Fed: Telstra FTTN decision disappointing: Coonan
Communications Minister HELEN COONAN says Telstra's decision not to proceed with a
four billion dollar high speed internet project is disappointing.
She says it appears Telstra isn't happy for its competitors to have access the proposed
fibre-to-the-node high speed broadband system.
But Senator COONAN says the government's committed to ensuring consumers aren't disadvantaged.
She says Telstra and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission haven't resolved
all of the issues surrounding the regulations governing the project.
She says given the talks have already taken six months it's disappointing .. but ultimately
it's up to Telstra to decide what to do.
She says Telstra's decision seems final .. with little hope of any change of heart.
